What is does an initial sample inspection report consist of?<\/h4>\n

Before assembled or individual components can be put into series production, an ISTR is often required first. The reason for this report may be the redesign of a part. For this initial sample test report, sample components are manufactured and tested under real conditions (i.e. under the same conditions in which series production will place) to ensure the reliability of the series production process or to check whether the part can actually be manufactured in the first place. Testing these sample parts is a way to answer these questions, and the results are then described in the initial sample test report and sent to the customer. An ISTR is essentially an agreement between the supplier and the customer, so the complexity of initial sample test reports can vary.<\/p>\n

What must be included in an initial sample test report?<\/h4>\n

The report summarizes the most important requirements for the quality of the component and the necessary tests. An ISTR contains a series of standard tests, as well as any tests specifically requested by the customer. The sample series is then subjected to a target test and an actual test and the results are noted in the initial sample test report. This allows the supplier to prove that the parts meet the customer’s quality requirements.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

What happens after the report has been sent to the customer?<\/h4>\n

When the manufacturer has completed the ISTR, it is sent to the customer. The customer checks the report for accuracy and completeness and then gives approval to the manufacturer. After receiving approval, the manufacturer can start series production. Initial sample test reports must be kept for 10 years.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
