Warehouse technology

With the return to our location in the port of Nuremberg in 2011, we decided to modernize our internal processes to meet the requirements of our customized C-parts management systems.

We have largely automated the picking of around 80,000 different items by combining an AKKL automated small-box warehouse, innovative conveyor technology, KAPL combined workstations and a pallet transfer rack for a perfectly coordinated storage process.

The heart of the plant is the AKKL, which houses almost 12,000 containers in three robot aisles.

In order to make optimum use of the basement space, we extended this system with double occupancy in each compartment. This allowed us to set up around 6,000 containers, despite the relatively low ceiling height.

The circuits were connected to each other via a freight elevator, allowing any container to be requested from any KAPL, on any floor.

  • Fully automatic warehouse system (AKKL)
  • 100% batch-separated storage
  • Over 80,000 items in the system
  • Withdrawal according to the FIFO principle
  • Permanent inventory
  • Class ISO 5 cleanroom capability
  • The customer’s total requirements are stored in the warehouse
  • Warehouse size
  • High security of supply
