What exactly is shipping according to the FIFO principle and how does it work?

The abbreviation FIFO stands for First in, First out. In simple terms, this is based on the principle that the parts that were received first (first in) are also the first to be shipped (first out).

In order to do this, a warehouse needs to be structured according to the FIFO system and each delivery of goods needs to have its own storage location. If each delivery of goods couldn’t be placed in its own storage bin, the warehouse would have to be rearranged again and again, in order for the First In, First Out principle to work at all. Goods that have already been stored must be removed from the storage bin so the next delivery of goods can be placed at the back.

How does FIFO work at Korrodin?

In order to meet your requirements in the aerospace industry, we are DIN EN ISO 9120 certified! We use FIFO order picking with minimal effort and thus we have many advantages, which you also benefit from! Every time we receive goods, we put them in 100% batch-separated storage. This means that each delivery of goods has its own batch and its own storage location with traceability as to when the goods were stored.
We apply the FIFO principle to every shipment of goods. Any goods that were stored first also leave our warehouse first. Our inventory management system is set up so that the oldest batch is always selected and shipped.
